I am considering the creation of a new partition (using PartitonMagic) in
which to place all my installed applications. Currently those applications
are installed in the C:\Program Files directory; and I contemplate moving
them to D:\Program Files. Is there a technique or program that will allow
me to simply move the installed applications to the new location without
going through the tedious process of reinstalling all the applications in
the new partition?

COA32 will do it and adjust the registry as well.
not good to move system applications, just 3rd party ones.

do a google search for it. FREE

Although there is software that purports to this (such as the
free COA32.exe), I have not found such products 100% reliable.
The best thing to do is to uninstall and reinstall.

Hi Terry - You may find COA32 difficult to find, at least free, since PC
Mag's stuff went subscription. An alternative you might want to look
into is Registry Replacer, here:
http://www.whatican.com/wic_en/product_regrep.html I haven't used it,
but it has been recommended by others. YMMV, so use at your own risk.

While there were programs that claimed to do this I would not rely on
them. It is far safer to remove and reinstall in a new folder. BTW you
should not attempt to remove Program Files from C: altogether - there
are some things like Common files which do not like it, and some
installations will insist on it no matter what. Just uninstall major
size things like Office and install to their own folders - direct in the
other partition if you lie

I assume that moving Data fioles to a new partition is not a problem and
does not a need special rogram to do. Correct?
