I will try to explain my question.....or my frustration....
My laptop computer when I select & move a file to another folder with left
click, the file moves and I do not see that file in the original spot.
In my desktop computer I can not do the same, I can select & move (left
click) but the original file still there, so on my desktop computer when I
want to move a file I right click and choose move from the dialogue.
Is there a setting that I can make permanently select & left click move the
file????
as always, thank you for the reply in advance

If you drop the file on a folder on the SAME drive as where you dragged it
from, it will be moved. If the drop is on a different drive, it will be
copied.

Alternately, do the drag-n-drop with the right mouse button, and the drop
menu will appear when dropped for you to choose move or copy.

Drag and drop with the right mouse button. It will come up with a menu
and then choose whether you want move or copy.

Thanks, I did not know that!!!
The reason I could not move a file by left clicking because I have 4 drives,
and laptop is 1 drive.
Thank you very much for the info.

The easiest way to prevent problems is to use your mouse right click to
click and drag. When you release the right button with your cursor where
you want the file, a window will pop up allowing you (among other things) to
choose to MOVE or COPY to that new location. Using that method you are in
control and don't have to remember whether left click and drag works one way
within a drive and another way between drives.
