moving emails out of Outlook

Hi, I'm hoping someone might be able to help ...

I need to move emails out of Outlook and into various folders on my
drive.

I have given it a try and when I drag an email out of Outlook and dro
it into a folder on my C directory (viewed via an Explorer window), th
email is listed with date created and date modified as the date I move
the email into the folder, not the date of the email itself. This make
it difficult to file or find specific emails.

Is there any way of getting the emails to list with the actual origina
received date, just as they do when listed in Outlook?

I'm not sure if I explained that very clearly ... here's hoping ...

Oh and I'm using Outlook 2007 with an XP OS

Of course. All you're doing is creating a file, as far as the file system is
concerned, and it records the time at which you allocated the space and
created the file. The file system has no access to the information contained
in the file. The contents of the file cannot affect the time when the file
was created. A mail message if not a file until you make it one.

No, unless you find a tool online that can poke whatever time stamps you want
into the various fields of the file metadata. Start here:

Thanks Brian. Really appreciate your reply. It makes perfect sense ..
I guess it was just a bit of wishful thinking on my part hoping that
could have the info I wanted where I wanted it, in one simple move
Anyway, once again, many thanks, and I will investigate further via th
link you've suggested.
