Amtrying to move some email messages from one computer to another. Have put
the folder in the designated message store but it is not showing up as a
local folder in the Outlook Express list. The folder is neither 'hidden' or
'read only'. Any ideas???

You can't do it like that. You need to paste the folder else where and do an
import.
have a look here:

Moving messages from on PC to another can be a bit bodgey as OE first only
exports messages to Outlook or MS Exchange, but, can Import from OE 4 or
6. Easiest way is as follows.

Copy all data from the Mail Store folder onto CD or memory card, go to
target computer, completely delete anything in OE Message Store on new
computer, drag the data from the CD or Memory Card into OE Message Store
then when you open OE you will find all your folders and messages in it.

Umm no you won't.

Then how is it that it always works with me without fail. I did that
procedure once again quite recently after a clean install of XP, my mail
store is on E: on another drive, I moved everything in it to a temporary
location, switched the OE mail store on C: to the location I just moved
the old mail from, deleted In-box and that welcome message from it,
dragged the old mail back into it, opened OE and all the mail etc. was in
it. No matter what your theory is I believe my eyes and experience and
the fact that the procedure I described works for me 100% of the time.
