Moving Computers

I received Windows XP with my DELL Computer about a year
ago, and would like to reboot my CPU, but have lost the
system CD for Windows XP. I figure my best bet is just to
buy another copy of XP, but I plan to build a new computer
in a few months anyway. Can I transfer the XP to the second
CPU (the manual says I can only activate on one computer,
per disc), or would I have to buy two XP discs?

The version of XP you got with the Dell computer is meant to be used only
on that one computer, not to be transferred.

OTOH you can get a replacement recovery CD from Dell, if you need to.

If it is a retail license you can. Whjat you may be able to do, is buy
an OEM CD (might work with a Retail disc too), and use the Dell key to
install it, and the key that comes with the CD on the new PC.

Greetings --

There's no CD required to reboot your PC. All you need do is
click Start > Shutdown > Restart.

When you do build your new computer, you will need to buy a
separate license for it, as your Dell OEM license cannot be
transferred to any other computers.
