Moving Boot Drive from Ide Raid to SCSI Raid

K

Kerry Helmer

I'm just looking for some guidance on moving the OS and softare from my boot
drive which is on an IDE raid setup to a SCSI raid setup. I know how to
image from the IDE raid drives to scsi raid drives. I just need some
guidance on how to configure the drivers before I make the move so that XP
will load once I boot to the scsi setup.

Thanks,
Kerry

The key is to enable/enumerate the SCSI raid controller in
Windows, before attempting to boot from it. That way XP
will have the drivers for the Raid in place. Boot from your
IDE Raid, with the SCSI card installed. Load the drivers,
then image the boot disk to your SCSI raid. Finally, change
the Boot sequence to the SCSI controller.

My two cents, load the drivers and any monitoring software
BEFORE installing the card.
