moving a bcm database

I have a user that initially installed this on their computer. It is being
shared out for other Outook users to access.

The question is, how can I move this to a shared server location? I've seen
some posts re: using SQL instead of MSDE. Can this be moved to a SQL server,
if there is existing data in BCM?

Or is this really what CRM is designed to accomplish?

It's not supported, but it's been done.

You can move the database file to the server and mount the file on Sql Server.

The trick is that the Sql Server instance has to respond to conneciton
requests on tcp port 56183 and the server firewall has to allow traffic to
that port.

Once that's in place, from BCM you can select that database.
