movies won't play (dual monitor)

Using powerpoint and a dual-monitor set up (presenter view). Most movies
won't play. The sound works, but I get a "black box." I've tried changing
hardware acceleration, resolution on the screens, etc., nothing works. It
also doesn't seem to make any difference as to file types (some wmv's work;
some mpg's work, etc.)

This is KILLIN' me!

i have the same problem (black box on second monitor (or projector, in our
case) while the movie plays as it should on primary monitor) but have found
via google search that this is a know issue and it is just the way it works.
a couple of workarounds are to change presentation mode to 'output only'
where the only output would be on the second monitor (or projector) -the
typical setup is having a 'mirrored' display where the same info is
displayed on both monitors. the second workaround is to set up powerpoint
to display the powerpoint on the second monitor (dual view).

can someone at microsoft verify this? i have tried both workarounds with
success but i just need to confirm that my findings (outside of
microsoft.com) are correct.

currently running vista ultimate with office pro 2007

TIA

Frustrated

I'm guessing you've read this already - but here it is again just in case...

See....Videos play correctly on computer but not on projector (black box)

I'm not from Microsoft, but what you are finding is correct - it appears to
be laptop specific. I've yet to see this problem on a Desktop PC.
