Moviemaker to DivX ?

Hi

Sorry if this was already treated in a previous post, I am new here.
I tried to process an .avi file with moviemaker2 (cut and paste).
The reason : VirtualDubMod did not do what I wanted.

Everything was OK till I tried to save the result as .avi.
Then I failed, I could not save but as a project format or as .wmv.

Is it possible to save as DivX ?
How ?

When you try to save movie (ctrl+p) don't you have the option of saving it as
DV-AVI (PAL) ?

It's on the screen where you have the option "Best quality for playback on
my computer (recommended)". Press the "Show more choices..." line, and then
find DV-AVI in "Other settings".

After you're done saving it as DV, you can open the finished .avi into
VirtualDub and export it to DivX. But you'll need to use DV Converter on the
..avi before - so that VirtualDub will be able to process the file's audio.

This is the process if you're using MM2.0. Maybe in 2.1 it's done
differently, or you could save the movie directly as DivX. I don't know.

Isn't DivX in the Mpeg4 format?

I'm using 2.0, not 2.1. What ver are you using?

No, it's not possible to save in Movie Maker as any type except DV-AVI or
WMV.

How did you manage that? Useless or not; but it is not uninstllable.
