Movie Maker

How come evertime I start to load my video clips into
movie maker I get program not responding and have to close
it down, then I try to redo the video again and yet again
it shuts down on me. Whats the point of having the
program if I can't use it. My computer is brand new
windos xp so I haven no idea whats causing the problem.
