Movie maker keeps turning off after i put a picture into the timel

When I put a couple of pictures into the timeline, it just shuts off. My
computer crashed a few days ago due to downloading Service pack 2, it got
rebooted and all the memory got erased. But I was back at Movie Maker 1, but
I copied Movie Maker 2 to a disc before the crash and it works fine except I
can't put any pictures into the timeline. Is there something missing? It's
not the Media Player, I already solved that problem.

I know it's a hassle, but this happened to me too, so I uninstalled SP2
completely in the add and remove programmes, and then reinstalled, and
everything worked fine.
try that.

You need all the DLL files along with the program.
Otherwise it won't work at all. I have never tried manaully copying the
files to a computer w/o SP2 and manually regestering them but it is worth a
try.
See my website for a list of files and instruction under
(Movie Maker -> Trouble Shooting -> Bad Installation of Movie Maker)
