Movie Maker closes unexpectedly

Hi,

If you are finding that Movie Maker closes as soon as you add a
transition, an effect or an audio file then try downloading the program
"Rename Codecs" from my web site. A large number of people have now reported
success using it to get around this instability. Its very easy to use, it
requires no knowledge of where things are and its FREE.

The program temporarily renames certain known problem files (if they
exist on your system) so that you can use Movie Maker without those annoying
crashes.

After you are finished using Movie Maker you run the program again and
it restores the files to their original names. It now recognises files in
certain locations as being untouchable because renaming them would simply
cause XP to automatically replace them (an annoying feature in XP)

Bad codecs are not always the reason for Movie Maker crashing and so it
may not work for you...but you wont know for sure until you try it.

Get "Rename Codecs" from my web site.

Best Wishes.....John Kelly

Thanks for the program John. Even though a HUGE STOP warning came up when I used your prog (a joke?)... I DID go ahead and try it out... But to no avail, I'm afraid
Moviemaker lives a life of its own and freezes up with EVERY edit of my endtitles
Considering the elevated heartrate it gives me and the time I have put in to convert the result of my 1st 5 minute trial from wmv to mpeg I say: FORGET IT MICROSOFT - Moviemaker 2.0 s***s! I'm off to surf for another option.
MS should put some time in development rather than litigation, look at the complaints on this site... and the program isn't free, it's part of an XP package that SHOULD be working!

Hi there,

Oh well, sorry it did not help. Whatever it is that's wrong is not the
codecs then.

You are the second today to comment on the stop sign...I will have to
re-word it I think.

Best Wishes.....John Kelly
