movie maker CD-R wont play

can someone PLEASE read this and tell me what to do? --

I create my slideshow using Windows Movie Maker. I burn
it to CD-R disk in my CD-R drive. But it wont play on any
DVD players, even went out and bought ones with "HIGH MAT"
(Panasonic) that Windows Movie Maker says the DVD player
has to have in order to play it. I can play the slideshow
wonderfully on my computer (yes, from my disk I burned,
not my file in the Movie Maker program) using Windows
Media Player but it will not play on any DVD players.

Someone pleeease help me. I have tried everything.
Thought maybe it was a bad/wrong disks, bought new ones,
didnt work. Tried messing with settings on DVD players to
make sure it wasn't the DVD players fault, didnt work.
Tried renaming the file when I burned it, because
apparently sometimes you can have too many characters or
what not, didnt work. Tried using another program, Roxio,
to burn it and paid $60 for that program, cant movie the
slideshow file into Roxio to burn it. I gave up on the CD-
R and tried saving it to a friends digital video camera
but apparently I have to have an IEEE 1394 cable that I
dont have. I'm at my witt's end and it took me weeks to
create the slide show for my in-laws for a Christmas
present. Is there ANY way to get this darn slideshow to
play on a t.v. for my in-laws? The file extension
is .MSWMM, can I somehow change the format or something to
it doenst need to use HIGH MAT and will burn and save and
play on a regular DVD player? Thanks so much to whoever
read all of this, I'm desperate!

Been having the same problem burning to dvd's and been
waiting for a response from papa john. Something to do
with compatiblity. Try playing on several players if you
can. That has helped me. I am dumping my new samsung and
going out to try a Sony. I am not sure if the high mat
has anything to do with it. I asked papa john that
question, too. Good luck. It is making me crazy.

The Panasonic "HIghMAT" is for photos and audio only. It clearly states
this on the box. You will have to use other software such as sonic MyDVD to
burn your videos to DVD for playback on a standalone DVD player.

There are no DVD players yet on the market that will play a WMV - whether in
high mat format or not.

Save the Slideshow as a WMV file - or for better quality, save it as a
DV-AVI file.

Then use your third party software such as Roxio EZ CD DVD Creator v6 to
burn that file to either a VCD, SVCD or DVD depending on the hardware on
your PC.

Thanks so much for your reply. I did try different DVD
players though, tried Panasonic with HIGH MAT and a sony I
think with HIGH MAT, neither would play the CD-R. Its for
Christmas and its so great and want to play it for them
Christmas Day but I dont know what else to do!

Ok, you said save as DV-AVI file to a "VCD/SVCD/DVD", got
the DV-AVI part but is a CD-R disk the same as a VCD disk
or SVCD disk?
