Movie Maker 2 unable to convert formats?

I captured a 10 minute long clip into the DV-AVI format which came out
to be about 2gb in size. I then wanted to toy around with the capture
quality settings to see what I wanted to use, however, I am unable to
resave the video to anything but DV-AVI?

I've reinstalled direct x, reinstalled the codecs for windows media 8
and 9 to no success. Anyone have any suggestions?

Matt-

I posted this same problem in early june; evidently there
is no known fix for this behavior. You can look at the
thread dated June 14 with a subject line of "Save movie
wizard fails, and save yourself a lot of trouble trying
different avenues to a remedy.

I would like to share with you the fix, unfortunately one
just dosen't exist.

I didn't see your thread, but I saw others like it. I guess I'll just
capture to DV-AVI and convert it using virutal dub or the like. I like
MM2's clean interface and simplicity but this seems like a rather
significant bug that impairs the functionality considerably.

I'll keep ya on my list here if I come across any solutions.

Matt,

An interesting item, but I've never experienced it myself, nor read any
other threads about the issue. Maybe something in the Problem Solving
section of www.papajohn.org can help.
