I suspect the roots of this problem may be ancient...
I've created a new logical partition for My Docs and other data. I have
moved the My Docs folders and sub-folders to the new logical drive, so we
now read J:\My Documents\etc....
The registry correctly points to this location as specced in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310746/en-us
Let's say I'm Fred.
However - the path C:\Documents and Settings\Fred\My Documents
has a different content - stuff in both locations is familiar but at some
point in time they have diverged.
Questions:
1) How does the content of c:\Docs&Settings\User Profile\My Docs relate to
My Docs when My Docs has been moved to another location? It cannot be in
both places. Does C:\Documents and Settings\Fred\My Documents become
redundant, or so there pointer to the new location?
2) I can move the contents of C:\Documents and Settings\Fred\My Documents to
J:\My Documents\etc, but then what does C:\Documents and Settings\Fred\My
Documents mean?
Just can't wrap my head around this one. Thanks, Fred.
