never tried. Just curius; Why ?

Basically what I am setting up is a two parition system when the SAM
file and the Documents and Settings folder is located on the second
partiton. This way if I ever need to reimage the system partition, it
wont effect the users accounts and profiles.

You Can't, not while windows is running the OS holds a lock on the file. I
was hoping that it could be moved in the same manner that the Documents and
Settings folder can be moved.

I'm not sure if this post went through (sorry for the repeat if it did):

Don't screw with the SAM, and there is lots t be said in favor of
keeping everything in C, and doing full backups, that include
everything.

SAM is part of the Registry. Not nice to fool with
Mother Nature.

It's a big part of the system. I wouldn't move it.
