Hi,

I need to copy/move a local userprofile from one PC to another. I tried to just copy/paste from old PC to new PC, but then when you log in, Windows creates a new local userprofile and doesn't take the original one. How do I make Windows to 'see' the original local userprofile when logging in?

Thanks.

If the profile is not too big then you can copy it to a floppy, if too
big for that you can use a shared drive, folder, zip disk, whatever
method/media you have access to.

Here's how:

Login as a WS administrator on the 1st machine but NOT the user who's
profile you want to copy. Right click on My Computer, Properties,
Advanced, Click User Profiles. Select the user you want and click Copy
To and browse to the folder you want it copied to (destination HAS to be
in a folder, not the root or mapped root of a drive).

On the 2nd machine login with admin rights but not the User you're
copying. If the user doesn't exist yet, create it. In My Computer or
Explorer set folder options to view hidden and system files if not
already set. Open the folder with the copied profile and slelect all,
copy, then browse to the users folder (C:\Documents and
Settings\[Username] and paste into that folder, when prompted say Yes.

Login as the user and check.
