I have a laptop with built in mouse. The mouse sometimes seems to run away
with itself. If I click to select a motion thats ok, but sometimes as I move
the mouse over the screen and if it is still over an action it will sometimes
automatically click and select. I have to ensure that the mouse is over a
blank area so the point is not over anything.

Denise,

Try this.
Goto Start>Settings>Control Panel>Double click on the Mouse icon.
Look for something like Device Settings or Touch Pad. Highlight the device
and click on Settings. Another box should pop up and list the controls to the
Touch Pad.
There you can read how to make changes by clicking on the Setting that you
want to change. One might be the mouse sensitivity.

Hope this Helps!

I have the same problem with the laptop mouse, but cannot find any device
manager in my "mouse" icon. Is there somewhere else I might find this. I
accidentally keep touching the laptop mouse with my thumb and things happen
that I do not want to happen.

There might be an Fn key combined with an F key that will access
touchpad settings. I've seen some with a slide switch atop the
touchpad, that disables it. In Device Manager, you could locate, and
disable it there.

On my Advent I use Fn+F9 to toggle on/off . What make of laptop ?
