mouse tends to go verticle or horizontal

i have an optical mouse, no name brand, and first discovered this problem
while using macromedia flash mx. While trying to draw slight angles or
curves and such, the mouse when it gets close to moving horizontal or
verticle, wil snap into that line. so for an example, its rediculously easy
to draw a square because it wont let me go off on an angle unless its greater
then, say 95 degrees, or less than 5. i thought this was a flash problem,
but noticed it also happened in paint and all other programs.

I have downloaded the most recent windows driver. Used system restore, and
have tried using different mice in different ports. I have windows Xp and im
totally out of ideas.

There are several variations on the mouse bug, and it Might apply to your
problem.

USB Hub Power Management - disable : Start/run, type DEVMGMT.MSC , then
rightclick each USB Hub device, Properties, uncheck the box on the Power
Management tab.
