I've been using the same Microsoft Wheel Optical USB mouse for a few
years with no problems. Just recently is started acting funny, like you
had to click it three or four times before it would work, either right
or left click. Put the cursor over a icon and click, nothing until you
clicked a few more times.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

thank you

Probably a defective mouse. Try another mouse!

Most likely a hardware issue. Do not waste your time - replace the mouse.

To add to the previous recommendations, get a different brand other than a
Microsoft mouse. The button switches wear out quickly on those.

I think that the microswitch below the mouse button is on its way out.
Get a new mouse, you can pick one up for very little money.
Mike.

Thats not true. Give data.

So you happened to get 2 bad switches and now say ALL Microsoft mouse
switches wear out quickly.
Present facts not emotions.

Never said, "All". Just suggested to try a different brand. I went through
2 quickly, 2 friends had similar issues, and the poster apparently has
issues; so why not try another brand.
