Mouse over problems

I have a problem with moving my mouse around on my desktop. It is kind of
unusual so I will do my best to try and describe it. I am using Windows XP
Home edition. My frustrating problem is that when I have multiple windows
open and I mouse away from the window that I am working on, another window
will be highlighted and will overlay on the window I am working on. This
gets veryfrustrating when you have toolbars that you are using in a program
and you try clicking on a toolbar only to get another window popping up from
somewhere else. I know I could close all other windows, but I don't think I
should have to do that. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks in advance,
Greg

Uninstall the mouse drive and the install an HD compliant driver. You can
then start all over with just rudimentary (i.e. Windows 3.1) type control.
Then add the right driver and USER DESIRED configuration and the advanced
setting the the mouse.

Uninstall all mouse drivers under My Computer / right click / Properites /
Hardware / Device Manager / Miice. Then install the HD Compliant Mouse driver
either for PS/2 or USB depending on your connection. Restart. If the mouse
control is too rudimentary add the correct driver and used the configuration
settings. If it isn't be carefull as a Windows Update Custome Install will
use the current driver with the same outcome.

Sounds as if you have turned on Xmouse support. Do you have TWEAKUI for XP?
If so go to the Mouse section and turn off Xmouse support.

That's one of those love it or hate it features :)

Dear Steve,
I have a similar problem and I have tried anything I could think of and
anything mentioned in this dicucussion group, except what you suggest: what
is Xmouse support, and what is WEAKUI for XP? And how do I turn Xmouse
support off
Thank you
Sophie

TweakUI is one of Microsoft's free Power Toys. Download it here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Install it and you'll find an entry for it in your Start menu. Start
TweakUI and examine the options.

Thank Malke. I did it and explored changing a few options, but no change,
problem still there...
