Mouse & Keyboard failure

About a month ago, my optical mouse (not wireless) began to pause for a few
seconds then eventually 'wake back up' again. It has gotten to the point now
that when I reboot it works for a few minutes then completely goes dead.
Yesterday, my keyboard just went dead too. They are both plugged into ps/2
ports. I have a wireless keyboard & mouse as well, plugged into USB, and they
still work fine. The two mice & keyboards ave worked hamoniously for the past
year so I know that is not the problem. I'm not so much suggesting it is a
windows problem, just tying to figure it out. I read a similar post, but it
did not slve my problem.

I forgot to mention also, when i plug the mouse directly into ta USB port
instead of the PS/2 port (I use a USB to PS/2 adapter) the same problem
persists.

At this point, we cannot say for sure if the mouse and keyboard are at fault
or not.
Get another mouse and keyboard that work, and try them.
