Mouse and Keyboard failure

Hello. I have had an issue with mouse and keyboard not working after several
reboots. Sometimes it will be fine and then after restart neither the mouse
or keyboards respond? Doesn't seem to be a virus due to inconsistency. Could
the actual mouse and keyboard ports being going bad? I hope not because they
are secured to the motherboard. Thanks

Yes, the actual ports on the motherboard could be failing. The random
nature of your problem does indicate a hardware issue. Troubleshooting
by first trying a different mouse and different keyboard. If the
problem continues, then you have narrowed the culprit down to the
ports. If this is the case and the rest of the machine works well, a
workaround would be to use a usb keyboard and a usb mouse.

If this is an elderly computer, the failure of the motherboard ports may
presage the coming death of the computer.
