Whatever view I select in Word 2007, the mouse cannot highlight any word in
my documents nor move the "thumb" in the scroll bar on the right. It does
work fine in the menus at the top of the window though...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
David.

If you hold Ctrl when starting Word, to enter Safe Mode, will the mouse work
correctly?

If not, how about if you start Windows in Safe Mode?

Cindy,

Holding down the Control key when launching Word and thereby operating it in
"Safe Mode" worked! Thanks a bunch, Cindy.

One is still left to reason why... but I'm a happy camper again.

Cheers,
David.

Starting in Safe Mode is not a solution; it's a diagnostic tool. When Word
works correctly in Safe Mode, you have narrowed down the problem to being
with Normal.dot, the Word Data key in the Registry, the printer driver, or
an add-in. Have a look at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm for further
troubleshooting options.

Suzanne, the link you listed does not work. Is there another place I can go?
I tried starting word in safe mode and my mouse still doesn't work. What
else can I try? I've tried uninstalling and re-installing several times.
I've deleted i-tunes and other apple programs. I've googled fixes and deleted
a opa12.dat file. NOTHING WORKS and I'm so frustrated. Please help!
