Mouse doesn't work in MS word

All of a sudden my mouse does not work in MS word. The keyboard works but
not the mouse. I can't click or highlight anywhere in a document or use the
scroll bar.
The most seems to work everywhere else outside od MS Word (2003).
Any idea what is going on?

Mostly this has been seen with Word 2007 after an updatae
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940791), but the cause in Word 2003 is
probably similar -- damage to a registry key that Word uses.

First visit http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/DataKeySettings.htm
and follow the steps to save the settings. Then go to
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm and follow the
instructions to delete the Data key and then restart Word to create a new
key. For Word 2003 the key to delete is

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data

I deleted HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data
When I open Word again I have the same problem. I notice that
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data
did not get recreated when I reopened Word.

I guess I should have rebooted before I retried. The Data registry is now
recreated and the mouse is working fine. Thanks for your help.

Well it was working fine for a couple hours. Now I have the same problem
again.
Any idea what could be causing this registry file to keep getting corrupted?
