Mouse and Keyboard not functioning

I just did the SP1 update on my new XP Pro and when it
was done it prompted for a reboot. After the reboot I
have no mouse or keyboard using USB. I tried using the
old pin connector as well, still no power. Doesn't work
in safe boot or anywhere. The keyboard does work in BIOS
and both devices show power.

Any solution that does not involved re-installing XP
would be greatly appreciated.

In my Cmos or Bios setup (where you click delete etc.)
which displays at the beginning of the boot process:
I once noticed an option to disable USB keyboard
which was selected by default.

I don't know if your bios has settings pertaining to this
but you could check your motherboard manual or poke
around the different options to see if a choice exists.

Did you try switching the usb ports the devices were plugged into when it
was on?

Universal Serial Bus Mouse Does Not Work
View products that this article applies to.

SYMPTOMS
When you plug a Universal Serial Bus (USB) mouse in to your computer, the
mouse does not work.

CAUSE
This problem occurs if a USB 1.1 device is plugged in to one of the USB
ports and then you plug the USB mouse in to another USB port. This problem
does not occur if the mouse is plugged in to the computer first or if both
devices are plugged in to the computer before it is started.
