Mouse acting up

Okay, lets try this again. All of a sudden, my mouse is
acting up. I have a laptop, a Compaq Presario, with
Windows XP on it. I don't know what I did, but last week
the wheel/scroll button stopped working. Instead of
scrolling when I press it, it highlights the line I am
on. Now, my touchpad is getting really sensitive. When
I accidently touch it (like when I'm typing) the arrow
jumps to that point on my screen and selects that
program. It's really annoying. I keep switching
programs unintentionally and moving lines while I'm
typing. What is wrong with me computer?? Please help!

Have you tried the Mouse Troubleshooter? Control Panel -
Printers & other Hardware - Mouse - select Hardware tab
then Troubleshoot.

I don't actually have a mouse, it is built into the
keyboard on my laptop. Plus, the way it is acting, I
don't think it is just dirty.

I have tried troubleshooting. It does not help me at
all. All I want to do is change it so that my touchpad
is not quite so sensitive. And if I could fix my wheel,
that would be great, too!
