Mounting problem with Jump Dirve

When I plug in the USB jump drive, it mounts, and a drive letter is
assigned, usually "F". However, it doesn't show up in explorer. I have to go
thru my control panel to the Portable Media Icon. I can transfer file too
and from, but can't open a file directly from the jump drive. I have 2
different sticks from 2 different manufactures and both do the same thing.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Rick,

First does this apply?

If not then what you can try is taking one of your drives and mapping it to
a different letter. No, not the C: drive... Maybe a DVD player to X or
something silly. Then using the disk management assign the USB drive it's
own letter. If applicable be sure to use the unplug hardware option before
removing the device.
