I have a Dell 4300. In general it is fine for my needs except that it
can only handle 512MB RAM and that is just a problem. Are there any
motherboards that have the same form factor as Dell so that I could
just plug it into my case, either re-use the CPU or not, add more
memory and then plug everything else into it? I doubt it, but it would
be nice!

Dell motherboards and power supplies have their pins rearranged for
each other only. At least that used to be true a few years ago.

You have to contact DELL, and see if they have a motherboard upgrade that
will fit in your DELL box. With band names such as DELL, you are subject to
their specifications for options and upgrades. You may find it better to
change the computer.
