motherboard and processor.

I have a Intel SE440BX-2 (Deattle) Motherboard a BIOS Poenix 4.0 Release
6.0.
May BIOS Rev.is 4S4EB2X0.86A.0024.P17 (Production-17.0), the PBA number
is 719947-211, the AA is 720932-213 and I am using a Intel Pentium III
Katmai of 450 MHz in a Slot 1.
An Intel specificatión update says: BIOS revision 4S4EB2X0.86A.0021.P14
or later is required for the Desktop Board to properly support 550E,
600E, 650, 700, 750 an 800 MHz processors. In adition, the following
board PBA's are required to support these processors:
719945-214 or later
729350-214 or later
754554-200 or later
719947-214 or later
754559-200 or later
Can I use a 500 MHz processors without any risk? (I hope no, but ...)
Thanks in advance.

You mean "Can I use an 800Mhz CPU"?

Well, yes, maybe. However check that the vcore is correct, whether in bios
or when the OS has booted. I think that, because your PBA isn't "214 or
later" you may get a vcore of 2.0v instead of 1.75v or whatever it's
supposed to be. That should still be OK if you have adequate cooling, I've
run coppermines at 2.0v, you just need good cooling.

This is "in my opinion/experience" and there is a slight element of risk,
which I take no responsibility for. :)

There was a mistake. I wanted to write 800 MHz.

You don't want to spend a penny on a machine that old assuming you can
even find a slot 1 processor. The cheapest new system will run rings
around your old box and end up costing you less.
