motherboard and cpu change

i want to upgrade my pc which will involve removing the
motherboard and cpu etc , i have been informed that prior
to removal with windows xp certain procedures must be
followed in order to get a satisfactory re start or boot
after the new board and cpu are fitted . i would be very
pleased if anyone could tell me therefore exactly what i
need to do before i attempt to remove the old board in
order to avoid problems .

Unless the new motherboard has exactly the same chipset as the old, a Repair
Installation will be necessary.
