"Most Recently Used" file list not available

In all my Office applications (Excel, Word, etc) the
Options/General/Recently used file list is grayed out. I
understand TweakUI could correct this however version 1.33
doesn't cover Windows XP, besides I wonder how this
feature was disable to begin with. Also, I understand it
might be fixed by a policy editor, but again I don't have
one. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Angela,
You can turn on the MRU list in office applications by launching the
application in concern and click on tools>options and flipping to the
general tab. Put a check next to "Recently used files list".
