WTF is wrong with you? Are you really that stupid or just lonely? You've
already lost the Vista battle long ago. You're a glutton for making a
complete fool out of yourself...is that what this is all about?
Wise up as*hole.

Well, it's now obvious that you're not very good with computers, let
alone Vista.
Go back to etch a sketch...you'll be much happier.
Frank

Oh, and if you really want to know how to customize Vista, try
installing it first.

hey man i read your post and you hit it on the nail head...
this is the craziest..i cant beleive they put this in that stupid box..
wasnt that a blast..the box..who,how screwed up the box..
some one there came up with this crazy box,and it was approved..
they were trying to tell us something right there..we didnt listen..lol

you install win xp..it works.its a stand alone os,you dont even have to go
for up dates..or fixes..they sold us an incomplete os..the whole os,,is not
on that disk.thats why the one dvd..

you said it took them five years to mess up this os..five years.who,s
working there at this company..im thinking we are going to be going for five
years and longer updates..

i would of never thought a company would be so greedy..to fix the os..to
make you go out and buy new software..so you can get your dvd and cd to
spin..it stops it from working..it makes you go get new software or updated
soft ware, the companys had to comply.bill had them by the balls..

you dont pay bill.your stuff dont play..it even stoped my cell phone from
working.the cell phone people had to pay him..im talking about stuff that
worked fine with xp..he made them pay..he stoped there stuff from
working..all the damage control people came at you,,like they did me..we just
speak the truth..why didnt i see this site.before i bought vista and got
robbed..lol

i have never had any problems with xp,,i down load it and it works, right from
the cd and i dont have to go for updates,it works as a stand alone..os

the vista dvd does not have the complete os..it goes for 30 updates from the
start

has all kinds of issues...some hardware want work with it
some software want work with it...
it fights you on everything you want to install
something pops up,every time you want to do something..
it just went for more updates and fixes
i now have a totall of forty and counting..
i know there will be more..updates,fixes and patches
and the service packs will start to come...it was said,it took five years to
make a broken os,,i guess it looks like.it will take five years of updates
and fixes and patches
and service packs.....

can you hang....lets see who all will last a year

Heh, and I thought I was the only one who thought they would break the
container trying to figure out how to get it open :) I sort of like
the packaging now, but would have appreciated a "pull here" type label
(man, does that ever sound lame)

Oh good Lord. Guess what? if you go out and get an XP disk and
install, you're going to have to get a shitload of updates.

has all kinds of issues...some hardware want work with it
some software want work with it...

Talk to the various hardware/software manufacturers about updating them
then. A lot of software won't run on Linux or MacOS either; gonna blame
them as well?

I haven't had NEARLY the problems with the Vista migration as I did when
I upgraded to XP from Win98. On my main desktop and laptop I
"downgraded" to 2000 Professional, (still the most stable windows
offering to date IMHO and my all-time favorite). XP wasn't even close
to 2K Pro until SP2. Then it finally lived up to it's hype. I do like
XP very much and still use it on the family machine, but I also like
Vista. Yes, there are some problems with it that really need to be
worked on and fixed, especially in the wireless networking area (this
last update dealing with wifi stability didn't seem to help me much).
As for hardware/software compatibility, well I guess I have been lucky
in that respect. I've got a 2 year old HP all in one and 4 year old
Epson all in one running perfectly with updated drivers from the
respective manufacturers and have managed to find updated drivers for my
video/audio/wifi, etc... For the most part, my software has either had
Vista patches, or is compatible with Vista anyway, namely my GIS and CAD
software (not AutoCAD).

Are there things I miss about XP? Oh yes, the main one being the tasks
area in Windows Explorer. You know where you could click on a file and
to the left there was a list of things you could do such as Move to
folder, Copy to folder, Rename, etc... Yes, I realize you can
right-click, use keyboard shortcuts, use the Organize button... but none
of those are quite as convenient to me.

Here's another question for your list: How is it possible that they
allow nutters such as yourself to use a computer is beyond any
reasonable sense of understanding.

Go back to your horse and cart.

Or have you forgotten we experienced the same compatibility issues in
the early days of XP?
And could it be that the following quote has some significance in the
situation some now find themselves in?
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Seems that it can apply equally to ms/hardware providers, etc. who have
again fallen short of customer expectations and also the customer who
again accepts the shortfall by ms/hardware providers, etc. without a
whimper.

Makes me wonder how much they spent on the design and engineering of a new
type of box. Why? Just so it could as totally unfamilair to the users as
is the transition from XP/Office 2003 to Vista/Office 2007? A preview of
the paradigm shifts?

It sounds like you need to read a book about how to use Vista?

Or, maybe just a book about computer basics.

Do you think you could have been a little more supercilious? Responses
like yours are typical of MS fanboys and girls and one of the reasons
people don't care much for MS.

You speak for the smallest of minorities which seems to suit your take

I am a 60 year old Computer user who has had all of Microsoft Products and I
am a stockholder. We cannot use Vista at work and I listen to advanced users
who are scared to death the next update will kill their computer. Recently
several Dell machines factory installed with Vista stopped booting. Returned
for XP computers. My most recent home build triple boots into Vista 64, XP
Home and Ubuntu 64. All devices work at rapid rates under Ubuntu and XP. XP
64 just killed my DVD Drives and several 'Open Source" applications with the
last update. I wonder why all of these device independent applications worked
fine but now crash under Vista. I am going to work to vote out the current
leadership and hope Microsoft can be more nimble. an old cardog still trying
to learn.
