More control over rehearse timings

S

sophieapple

I have little experience of powerpoint, and am attempting to make a
presentation where only selected slides change automatically in a timed
fashion.

For example, I want the first slide to stay until I click/advance myself,
and then the next few slides to change according to my own timing choices. I
then want that sequence to end and wait for me to click/advance again to
begin the next sequence myself etc.

I can only seem to make the entire presentation be done by timings, or by my
own interaction and not a combination of the two.

I hope that I have been clear enough. Cheers.

Hi Sophie

PowerPoint has animations that change things on a slide (e.g. a picture
appearing, or text disappearing) and transitions which moves between slides
(which I think is what you want). Both can be either automatic or manual.

In order to set automatic transitions in 2007, go to the Animations tab and
you'll see a section called 'Transition to This Slide'. Select the
transition style that you want, the speed you want (that is the time the
actual transition takes) then change the 'automatically after' to the amount
of time you want the slide to stay on screen. For slides you want to do
manually, leave them as 'on mouse click'.

If you are using 2003, go to Slide Show -> Slide transition.

If you want to find out about animations, I suggest the training courses on
MS site:

If you have any questions let me know and be sure to include your version.
