More Antispyware problems

Ran Adaware and detected 5 tracking cookies after using MS antispy I then ran
antispy and it found 1 item. I believe Antispy introduced the Tracking
cookies thro I.E. so i am removing this useless program from my machine and I
will rely upon SpyBot and Adaware to monitor my system which keeps pretty
clean by using Firefox browser

Microsoft Antispyware doesn't do anything with cookies, except optionally
remove all of them in the tracks eraser feature.

So, it isn't surprising that Ad-aware found tracking cookies. Tracking
cookies come in via browsers, not via Microsoft Antispyware.

Dear Bill,

There is a difference with 'cookies' in general terms and 'tracking
cookies'. Some tracking cookies are (a part of) spyware. If the program
these not recognize then Microsoft has a problem. To much (tracking)cookies
makes the computer slow.

Greetings, Ron Weber.

How does the presence of a text file on the system make it slow?

Microsoft Antispyware does not, at present, distinguish among cookies--and
thus doesn't scan for or selectively remove them.

I can understand the concerns that many folks have about tracking cookies,
but I've never heard that they are a performance issue.

If you look closely at spybot and what it searches for you will notice 4 or
so names that have a check mark in them that are excluded from the search of
spyware.just try and uncheck these in the program and you will then notice
that the program no longer works hence spybot uses these for what purpose i
don't know.So the real question here why are you using spyware to detect
spyware and why has microsoft allowed a free program from europe that has
spyware in it to be used by a vast majority of the public in the united
states.HMMM.PS even when you first download spybot it comes with a disclaimer
that if you dont allow them to do what they want they have the right for you
to not use the product. It says right away.

as usual someone thinks they know things and they have not a clue.the last
version of spybot i ran was 1.3 i do believe and all you have to do is go to
settings and then look through all (yes all) of the bho and things it checks
for and you will see that there are 2 or 3 items that are check marked to be
excluded from the scan. These checked items are for spybot to in my opinion
corrupt internet explorer toolbars and such. But anyway i unchecked these
before and tried to run spybot and it kept giving me errors and freezing up
the program. If i recall correctly the first scan removed the items which were
located inside of the spybot program itself and then the next time i ran it
the progam would not function properly and it kept speaking german in the
errors like hanz danzig or some baloney. In otherwords those companies that
have the check mark to be excluded from the scan must be paying a
kickback. And since the setup program which is still saved on this computer
,keeps installing with the errors in german,i can only assume that it is an
original download from spybot and that i was not somehow misdirected to a
corrupted download site for spybot. This has been over 6 months ago and
Internet explorer was having problems with there browser being corrupted at
the time.So check it out yourself and see what happens before you reply and
see if it happens to you..

Hmm--so 6 months ago, you had a problem with version 1.3 of Spybot Search &
Destroy, and this qualifies you how?

Sorry, I'm not about to take the trouble to follow up on your rant--if you
really have a serious point to make, lay it out a little more
clearly--consider using punctuation and actual sentences to make it easier
to uderstand, and maybe we'll learn something from you.

Actually it was about this time last year and it was xpsp1 still and somehow
i was able to remove the advertising robots out of the program. Here is what
happen.u download spybot, click install and a pop up pops up and it says
legal stuff(if you remove advertising robots with this program you may not be
allowed to continue using the host program.read their licensing agreement for
further info. Then run the program and up in the top corner of spybot it says
file, mode, lang, help.click on mode and select advanced mode.scroll down to
settings and click on ingore products.click the tab lsp and you will notice
new.net .From my understanding ,the new domain names where actually deemed
not secure by most security agencys and i have not heard otherwise.
Next click on the tab revision and you will notice that sidestep is excluded
from the search.
Last click on the tab spybots and you will notice mysearch and new.net in
this category(notice all the nice spyware here: Alexa and stuff nice category
to be in ).
I was able to remove these but seem to not be able too now or either they
are actually still removed out of the set up program apparently.
I could not reproduce the error in german that i did at least 5 different
times last year .That was 5 uninstall and reinstalling with the same error
keeping on popping up automatically after i originally uninstalled the
advertising robots.I might have removed some of the excluded system process
too at that time but my memory can only remember so much.I worked on this for
over 2 hours by the way trying to point the way and recreate the hanz dansig
error or whatever it was.

I think you are misinterpreting the meaning of that dialog box.

Some "Free" software, is, in fact, supported by advertising. If you disable
the advertising-related code ("spyware")--the "free" software may stop
working.

That is what the disclaimer in Spybot Search & Destroy is telling you--that
if Spybot Search & Destroy is used to remove some spyware, "free" programs
you may wish to keep working, may no longer work.

Spybot Search & Destroy is not supported by advertising, nor does it contain
any spyware.
