Is there a way for me to achieve mono sound (right/left channels
condensed to mono) and still use my Sony earbud headphones?

Here at work I have to use just one earbud so I'm missing everything
from the right channel.

Does XP have a way to do this or maybe is there a way within Windows
Media player (a plugin) maybe?

Thanks

Right click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Adjust
audio properties. Click Audio, and Advanced for your audio
device. There may be a mono setting there.

I have a similar problem: deaf in one ear. Sorry but I couldn't figure out
how to change audio settings to mono? Is there no better way to do this? For
me, it would even be nice to save some space by ripping music all in
monophone. Is this possible??
Thanks.

I'm thinking that perhaps a hardware solution might be more effective for
you. You can probably get a jack which converts stereo to a single channel.
I've seen this for the old style radio ear-phones which were a single
ear-phone. If you can't find this stock, you can certainly get whatever you
need at a Radio Shack and wire up your own. It's really not too difficult.

Hope this helps,
