Monitoring Network State Changes

Can someone point me to a utility or plug-in that will provide real-time monitoring and logging of state changes for network connections? I've found several that you can set to monitor and check at intervals, but we have a machine that keeps dropping off the network for small intervals (seconds at a time) and coming right back up.

This is a windows XP Pro SP2 laptop, BTW.
