i cannot get my computer to install my monitor it is a
philips TFT monitor 170c4fs/05 it just set`s up as
default monitors

If you had paid that much for a monitor, wouldn't you want XP to recognize
it, being as it is so superior to a Samtron 76V economy crt which is
recognized.. lol.. I flatly refuse to pay out for an LCD monitor lessen my
boss pays me more..

I have the same problem. XP will only allow the use of the default monitor. It also does not recognize my video card. The monitor works but not like it is supposed to. The default VGA save is a crappy video set-up. Did you get your problem resolved? Microsoft tech support spent 3 hours and said they couldn't help me. Thanks

Have you tried getting monitor drivers from Phillips?
