monitor

ok,
if i turn my compter on so that it boots up, but dont turn the monitor on
during this time....... when i do eventually turn my monitor on, it is
receiving no signal. Why is this? This seems a bit stupid. So i have to
reboot my computer with the monitor on.

And another monitor problem: If I set my monitor to go on standby (using
windows) after 1 hour.... i have found no way of turning it back on! It's
not like the black screen when you wiggle the mouse and it comes back on. It
just stays on standby. Turning it of and on again still does nothing.

During post, the video bios detects attached monitors. The windows driver
may also attempt to detct you monitor when it loads, or the detection result
may be saved on the card by the video bios. Your monitor can not be seen
when the power is off.

How old is your video card?
