monitor video adapter incompatibility ?

Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 v2.0 mobo & nVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (Gigabyte GV-N52)
video with a compaq p110 monitor (21 inch sony).

the colour has a greenish tint, it seems the yellow is missing....the
problem exists pre and post so it's not
a
driver issue, any other monitor works fine with the video card and the
monitor works fine with other video cards and laptops, tried both dsub and
BNC cables with the same result.
has anyone else struck a problem like this ? no amount of tweaking the OSD
or with nVidia software has produced a suitable result.. placed the old card
in .. it's fine with the monitor .. and as I said other monitors work well
with the card.
thanks

tha

It may be a loose connection.

how come the connection is only loose when the monitor in question is
connected to the diveo card then ... no other monitors have this problem
when connected to this card and the monitor is fine when connected to
another source ... so I'd think it was something else

Try taking a small screw driver and push lightly on each pin of the monitor
cable.

I have had monitor cables with a pin not seated tightly in the connector
that would back off (slide back up inside the connector) when plugged into a
PC adaptor that was little tighter than on another one.

If you find a pin that is loose then grab the pin lightly with needle-nose
pliers and try pulling out on it a little in hopes it clicks or seats inside
the connector.

It could be that both ends are marginal. It wouldn't be a problem
unless they are connected to each other.

Also, do controls on the monitor help any?

Yes, that is certainly possible.

He already said that those dont fix the problem.

Hard to see why you'd get that effect with both the
dsub and BNC cables tho and not with other monitors.

And that should see the color missing, not just shifted in level.

I like the marginal at both ends possibility currently.

There is one last suggestion.

You have other montiors, and apparenty other cards. Just swap, scratch
your head, and move on.
