I am installing windows vista on a pc with an LCD screen 19". Upon the
second reboot in order to finish the install i get a black screen with this
message:
OUT OF RANGE
VGA IN : 1024X768
H.SYNC :+ 68.5 KHZ
V.SYNC :+ 84.7 HZ
CLOCK :184.0 MHZ

This sometimes happens with certain monitor and video card combinations. In
general if you turn off the monitor and go away for a while the installation
will complete and at the next reboot the video signal will be restored. You
could also try a different monitor to see if it displays a picture because
it looks like the error data says the video card is putting out a signal
that a different monitor (glass instead of LCD) would be able to see.

I had the short version of the messagge "Out of range"
and got it fixed by restoring the system to an earlier date. I started first
in safe mode (VISTA ULTIMATE).

I had the same issue, but I didn't get any error message. The install gets
all the way to Completing installation and then the monitor shows a small box
with a bunch of musical notes and then goes black. This is on a Dell XPS 400
and I am doing a clean install.
