monitor shows sideways/upside down

I had XP installed and now every once in awhile everything
will just go sideways or upside down on my monitor??? is it
related to XP or a driver?

It's related either to a monitor control (physically on the monitor) or in
the video card drivers . The video controls for this won't be
specicically a part of XP, but rather come from the vendor of your video
card (or monitor).
