hi all,

im looking at buying a samsung syncmaster 916v monitor and have a
question regarding the loading/reloading of the video drives.

once i connect the monitor to the ati 9200se 128 mg card and let windows
do its thing and install the software for the monitor, do i need to do
anything with the ati drivers/software?

im running xp professional sp2 with all patches applied and the ati
catalyst control center 6.2.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, you don't need to reinstall the video card drivers, all you need to
do is set the native res of the LCD monitor or else text won't be as
sharp as it could be. Your monitor should be 1280x1024 so set it to that
res and 32bit for best image quality, don't set refresh rate above what
it is capable of. I use 60hz with LCD monitors, max on yours is probably
75hz. You should set the res and refresh rate before you install the new
monitor. One thing you might want to do is install the monitor's .inf
file and colour profile that comes on a cdrom with the monitor. You
don't have to though as windows will have generic Plug and Play monitor
drivers already. I do though.
