How can I set my monitor so that as it boots up or if it runs DOS it runs at
85, 100Hz instead of awful an 60Hz??

It's a Sony trinitron 17" . Any ideas how to do this? I've tried setting
the monitor in Windows to 640x480x256 colours at 100Hz (just incase it
remembered the settings for DOS). But it does not work, its always at 60Hz
which is hard on they eyes in DOS.

thanks,
J

Its not the monitor but the graphic card and the way DOS uses it that
determines what the refresh rate will be. Go to the manufacturers site
or check on the installation CD. Basically the card needs to support
Vesa VBE 3.0
Go to http://home.student.utwente.nl/r.muller/unirefresh/ for
some info etc or do a search on Google.... lots come up!
