Monitor Problem

I am using XP home edition and my problem is that each
time I sign on to windows my monitor goes from start to
standby immediately.
This has never happened before and now I am unable to try
and find the problem without the monitor staying on.
Can somebody tell me what the problem may be?

Your kid upped the refresh rate?
