monitor problem

I have an old E Monster 600 - it's at least 5 years old. I have
started having the problem of a moire pattern on the monitor (monitor
is only about 1-1/2 old). It especially gets bad when the air
temperature is hot. I have tried putting a fan on the side air vents
which seems to cool it off (exhaust air coming out rear is cooler)
which has helped somewhat. I know there is nothing wrong with the
monitor as I am not having any moire pattern when the monitor is
attached to the new computer. Do I need a new video card? Or is there
something else I can do? The moire pattern is driving me crazy!

Are you sure you don't have some type of magnet/metal near it? Not all
speakers, including ones that bill themselves as computer speakers, are
suitable. Thing is even a screw driver left next to a monitor may have
enough magnetism to affect the display.

Anyway, some monitors have an automatic degaussing every time you cycle
the power, some need to do it from their menu. Maybe try the degaussing
thing after the old computer is powered up.

This is an LCD monitor, so there isn't degassing like a CRT monitor.
The problem isn't the monitor, it's the computer. I have the monitor
also hooked up to a new computer via a switch and there is no moire
seen when using the new computer. Also, this problem was going on with
the first computer prior to sharing the monitor.

If you have the monitor on a switch....it may be the switch causing the problem.
Remove the switch and connect it to the "problem" computer directly to see if
there is a difference.

There's no difference.
