Monitor Power Settings

Something has happened to the monitor power settings. I cannot change the
settings any more. After being idle for approx 30 min., the monitor would go
to my screensaver for a period of time before hibernating...my choice. This
all changed with a Windows update. Now I do not have the option to change the
power settings. I know it is not my computer because the one I use at work is
doing the same thing. The selection is in the Control Panel>Power
Options>Power Schemes. The area cannot be typed into and the timed areas
below cannot be selected.
What's going on?

It sounds like the registry entry for your current control set has lost admin
"Permissions". Open regedt32.exe call up the current control set. The Edit
menu has a "Permissions" item that lets you grant those rights to you.
I doubt this is really caused by the update, but simply a result of
spyeware/virus damage you previously repaired. The update just called your
attention to the problem.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet

Advanced button is going to show checkboxes for 'inherit' and 'for child
object'.

Mark, thank you for your help. You did show me where to check. However, all
of the permission boxes were clicked on. I clicked them for permission and
applied but when I went back to Power Control>Power Schemes, the box was
still blue and when you click on it, it changes to white but you cannot type
anything there and there are no selections to be made. The time boxes below
are still faded out.
