monitor/pc connection

My pc has power and I can hear it start to boot however it stops after a
couple of seconds. The monitor is blank (flashing amber power light). I've
tested the monitor with another pc and it's working. The key board isn't
working though sometimes it lights up briefly when the pc is switched on. I
just read a reply to a question that says if the monitor light is amber then
there is a problem with the connection with the pc. Is there anything I can
do or should I take it to be repaired?

I would guess that it is your pc, I'm only guessing here. My monitor
flashes amber because it is in sleep mode, or energy saving, however I have
it pluged in. Since it worked on anougther computer I wouldn't think it the
monitor. I know you would like a definitive answer, but that's the best I
can do. There are alot of people here with a whole lot of experience. If
you can get them to help. So far (thank goodness) I have had just this one
person trying so hard to help me, even tho many have looked at the question.
So I know the feeling. Good luck, hang in there, maybe you will get lucky
and one of the pro's will be able to tell you right off!

Flashing amber light means there is no video signal getting from the
computer to the monitor. It could be the cable, the video card, or built in
video - depends on what you have.

You could swap out the video card, if that's what you have, or borrow a card
and turn off the built in. Your choice.
