Monitor Icons in WinXP Pro missing

When connected to the internet the two monitor icons are
not present in the notification area ( "system tray" in
Win98 ).Hence to close connection I have to switch of
modem ( external )and await a reconnect dialog and click
cancel. Where & how can I get these icons back please?
 
Hi,

Have you checked the properties of your connection in the networking folder?
The option to show the icons is usually on the first (general) tab.
