Monitor gets cut off

I'm running beta 2. I have a Sony GDM-FW900 crt 24' monitor attached to an
ATI 9700 pro video card. Intel 3 gig proc. 2 gig ram. At times, seems like
when I try to install software, or drivers, my monitor gets cut off. The
computer is still running but the monitor is not. I try to turn off the
monitor and on again and nothing. I end up hitting the reset button to gain
access to the monitor again. I have the ATI drivers for Vista installed, and
yes it happened when I tried to install them the first time. Any ideas?

Does your 9700 have another port (vga or dvi or TV-out)? It may not be the
same bug but in older builds the display used to change to a display that
was shutdown but connected in another port.

Yes it does. It is a AIW card from ATI. It is connected by a BNC connector.
So do you think once there are drivers for All in Wonder cards from ATI that
it will be fixed or is it a Vista bug?
